The Forgotten Blog

So I'm doing this post in hopes that maybe I can start blogging again! All of my family does it so I really don't have an excuse not to, it's just so fun to see pictures of friends and family and catch a glimpse of how they are doing! Things are going well for me. Nicole and I have been dating for over a year now and we will be going to the same school starting September 27th (which also happens to be my birthday). Summer has been full of work, play, family reunions and house projects but I'm ready to go see Megan and Kevin and Karter from the 11th to the 16th and come back and start school!

Back from Oregon, but ready to go back!

A few days ago I got back from spending a week in Oregon and I had a blast! Spending time with a fantastic family and amazing friends is my favorite thing to do, and that's all I did! When I originally planned this trip I picture a low key, relaxing time in Oregon, little did I know that my dad would be made bishop of the Oatfield Ward, Megan and Kevin would come to visit, I would meet an awesome girl, dig up the backyard for a new pool, and barely have enough time to see and hang out with all of my friends! I was super tired the whole time but enjoyed every minute of it. It's been awhile since I've updated the blog, and since last time I have decided to move back to Oregon, to Eugene actually to live with one of my best friends from high school, Mr. David Yabu. I plan on taking night classes and working during the fall, and transferring to the University of Oregon for the winter, GO DUCKS! David is amazing and is currently down in Eugene looking for an apartment for us to live in. Today someone bought my contract here in Utah, but I still have to go get all of the checkout paper work. Tonight is my last night here in the apartment, and I'll either have to couch surf or go up to Ogden and bum off of Nicole and Jake...haven't quite figured that one out yet. My friend Nicole is flying down this Tuesday to drive back with me to Oregon; it's a long trip to do alone. Anyways I have a lot to do but I am happy and excited for the future! Here are a few pictures from the trip back home.
At the Clackamas River, don't ask me why my eyes are closed.

Timpanogos Caves

Update!

Ok so it's been 17 long days since I updated this and SOOO freaking much has happened, so i'm just going to put some pictures from the past couple of weeks up with captions so everyone can see what i've been upto.

One day I was sitting in my friend Heidi's apartment, when her roommate Carly asked her if she could come in to get a "chemical peel". She is a student at a local beauty school and needed friends to come in so that she could perform certain beauty treatments for her final test so that she could graduate. I asked her what else she was doing and the only thing I recognized was "pedicure", so, realizing it was an opportunity to have someone give me a foot massage for free, I volunteered. Only later did she tell me that I had to have my toes painted as part of her test, and it HAD to be red. So here I am, red toenails and all, getting my first but definitely not last pedicure (it felt soooo good, then again, it was free... haha). And don't worry, as soon as she was done she took the polish off for me.

A couple weeks ago my ward hiked Mt. Timpanogos for a ward activity. We started at 2:00 am because we wanted to be up at the top for the sunrise; not all of us made it to the very top in time to see it, but we were high enough that it was still amazing. It was just under 19 miles and for a lot it was almost straight up. There were cliffs, ice, and I came away with a lot of blisters, but it was one of the best hikes I've ever done.

At just the end of last week, my Aunt Cindy and Uncle Brett and their family vacationed up in Park City. They invited Nicole, Jake, Dad, Kate, and I to come up one day to hang out, have dinner, and go swimming. The resort they stayed at was really nice. This is dad and I riding the tram from the parking lot up to the resort.

New Pictures From the Mission

Ok, so lately I've been in contact with Sister Jennie Marinho who served in my district when I was district leader. She was super awesome! She had one of the best attitudes, the strongest testimonies, and she had a habbit of baking delicious goods haha. Anyways, during my mission I dropped my camera, so I don't have that many pictures from the last couple months, so I asked Jennie if she would send me some from the last trip to Assomada that we took because we had some good times! Here are a few pictures that I just received and wanted to share.

This is Sister Marinho. She and Sister Paim made this for me because I was leaving that week, it's a picture of the cape verde flag with the islands on it and their testimonies on the back.

These are the Assomada spiders. Assomada was the first area that I served in and I was there for 4 1/2 months. These spiders weren't out as much while I was there, but on this P-day trip back they sure were! They aren't poisonous but they quite a site. This is Elvis showing us that they aren't as bad as they seem.

This is the largest and oldest tree in Cabo Verde. It's in Assomada and is a popular place for P-day.

You might want to take a closer look at the larger version of this pictures, there are lots of spiders between those plants! haha they made ginormous webs that were super strong. To grab the spiders, Elvis just grabbed a web and reeled it in as if the web was rope. They were so cool!

Nevershoutnever!

On the 7th Heidi and I got to go to the Boys Like Girls concert and Nevershoutnever! played as well (why we really went) and The Ready Set opened. It was sooo much fun!! Despite the fact that I was the tallest person and stuck out like a sore thumb as me, heidi, and what seemed like a million highschool/middleschool girls jammed up front to rock out haha. I distinctly remember hearing a group of midgets behind me complain that they couldn't see... but I was standing in the center, 5 ft from the stage and wasn't going to move for anything.

Yeahhh...we got a little sweaty

Nevershoutnever! On the Uke of course.
